Toyota redesigned the 2014 Corolla to acclaim from some of us, scorn from others. It's also earned scorn from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety on its new overlap front crash test, where it earned a score slightly better than "poor."
The new test is one of the toughest that the IIHS has ever enacted, basically recreating what would happen if a car were crashed at 40 MPH into a light pole. The Corolla got a score of "marginal," which is the second lowest rating that the IIHS offers.P
As Cars.com notes, the picture looks pretty bad, but the Honda Civic also looks as bad, and it scored a "good" in the test.P
Overall, the Corolla did perform admirably, since it earned a score of "good" in all the other crash tests. It has been named a top safety pick. Still, with more stringent crash tests on the way, automakers will need to be more vigilant than ever.

É uma pena que o Corolla teve o mesmo desempenho mediocre que o Jetta, mas ao contrário do Jetta, o módulo do airbag não se soltou.

Pelo menos o Jetta não foi tão podre quanto o Fusca, que nem abriu a porra do air bag lateral

Fail legal da Toyota.
Ela já sabia desse teste, e o Civic se saiu bem.
Era o mínimo que essa geração nova do Corolla também fosse bem.
